Gli Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (spesso abbreviato in OMD) sono un gruppo synth pop britannico fondato nel 1979 è tuttora attivo sebbene con una formazione diversa. Il gruppo prende vita da un duo formato da Andy McCluskey e Paul Humphreys, nato dalla scena dell’Eric (un club di Liverpool) alla fine degli anni ‘70. I due non si lasciarono influenzare dagli effluvi psichedelici di gruppi come Teardrop Explodes od Echo & the Bunnymen e concentrarono la loro attenzione verso i sintetizzatori e il kraut-rock spaziale.
